Relaxed & Charming
Geyserville
Geyserville is a tiny community just north of Healdsburg on Highway 101, and it's easy to blow right past. That would be a mistake. The Alexander Valley surrounds it, and the handful of tasting rooms and restaurants here have a relaxed, unhurried character that's harder to find further south.
Healdsburg's quieter neighbor, with serious wine credentials
Geyserville sits at the point where Highway 128 hooks east into the Alexander Valley, and that geography tells you a lot about its wine character. This is Cabernet and Zinfandel country, warmer and bolder than the Russian River Valley to the south, with a long history of family farming that predates most of what’s now considered prestigious in Sonoma County.
The town itself is genuinely small, just a few blocks with a handful of restaurants and tasting rooms, a historic inn, and not much else. That’s actually the draw. If Healdsburg has started to feel a little too polished for your taste, Geyserville is where the old Sonoma County character still lives. The pace is different here, and so is the price point.
Day-trippers from Healdsburg make the quick drive up regularly, and increasingly so do visitors who just want a slower version of the same wine country experience. You can taste your way through some excellent producers, have a proper lunch, and be back in Healdsburg before dinner with time to spare.

Geyserville
You're in Cabernet and Zinfandel country here, warmer and bolder than the Russian River Valley to the south. The wineries tend to be smaller and less trafficked than what you'll find near Healdsburg, which is a feature, not a bug.
Small but genuine. A handful of restaurants in the historic downtown core, including a beloved old-school Italian spot that's been feeding locals for decades. Nothing precious, everything good.
Slower than Healdsburg by design. Geyserville hasn't been polished for tourism, and the locals mostly like it that way. It's the kind of place where you can actually get a table without a reservation.
